It was a miserable decade. From Baghdad to New Orleans and from the Patriot Act to TARP, the last 10 years sometimes felt like nothing more than a series of colossal government screwups alternating with colossal extensions of government power. At the end of 2009, we’re faced with an escalating war in Afghanistan, a growing corporate state at home, and a renewed push for protectionism around the world.
